Airlangga: subsidized fuel prices to be maintained until end of 2026

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto assured that the government will maintain subsidized fuel (BBM) prices until the end of 2026. Prices for non-subsidized fuels remain under review and will be announced once finalized.

Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta on Monday, April 6, 2026, that the government is committed to maintaining subsidized fuel (BBM) prices until December 2026.

He explained that this commitment hinges on global oil prices not exceeding an average of US$97 per barrel. "As long as the oil price is not more than US$97 per barrel on average, we can maintain these BBM prices until December this year," Airlangga said.

Regarding non-subsidized fuels, Airlangga said the government has not yet completed its review. "(On non-subsidized BBM prices) it is still being studied. Once finished, it will certainly be announced to the public soon," he stated.

Previously, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said his ministry is discussing non-subsidized fuel prices with private fuel station operators to find the best formula.
