Audit courts meet in Porto Alegre for coordinated oversight

Representatives from Brazil's 33 audit courts gather in Porto Alegre to discuss joint oversight strategies.

The meeting takes place at the TCE-RS headquarters on July 2 and 3. It is the third gathering of the Rede Integrar initiative, coordinated by the TCU.

Participants will assess ongoing actions, share experiences and set guidelines for next year's planning. The proposal includes coordinated national audits with data and methodology sharing.

In a prior network action, the TCU and state and municipal courts oversaw the Programa Nacional de Imunizações. The initiative identified flaws in stock control, vaccine losses and dose registration issues.

Brazil's Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) on Organized Crime rejected Senator Alessandro Vieira's (MDB-SE) final report on Tuesday (April 14), which proposed indicting three Supreme Federal Court (STF) justices and the Attorney General. The report was defeated 6-4 after changes in the commission's composition. The substitutions favored government-aligned members, swaying the vote outcome.
