Defenseman Axel Brøngel Larsson is moving from Frölunda to the United States to play in the USHL. The 18-year-old has signed with the Youngstown Phantoms.
Axel Brøngel Larsson joined Frölunda's junior program from Norwegian club Vålerenga in 2023. He made three SHL appearances and one in the Champions Hockey League during his time in Gothenburg. Last season the Oslo-born player recorded 12 points in 36 J20 Nationell games. He added six goals and one assist in the playoffs as Frölunda reached the SM final. Brøngel Larsson, who represents Sweden internationally, earned silver at the U18 World Championship last spring. He is set to join fellow Swede Linus Rudslätt Debou on the Youngstown Phantoms roster. The defenseman was selected 50th overall by Youngstown in this year's USHL draft. He is expected to be chosen in the NHL Draft in about three weeks.
