Björklöven has added American defenseman Josiah Didier as the final piece of its back line. The 33-year-old joins from Laval Rocket in the AHL ahead of the club's return to the SHL.
The club announced the signing on July 24. Didier, who stands 191 centimeters tall and weighs 101 kilograms, brings nearly 600 AHL games of experience.
A right-shot defenseman known for his physical play and defensive reliability, Didier was drafted by the Montréal Canadiens in the fourth round in 2011 but never reached the NHL. He served as captain in the AHL for four of the past five seasons.
In his most recent campaign he recorded five assists in 43 games. Didier will be the eighth and final defenseman on the roster and is expected to play a key role in penalty killing and tough defensive matchups.
He said in a club video: "Jag ser fram emot säsongen nu och har bara hört bra saker om staden, klubben och fansen."
