Viggo Björck to play in Winnipeg Jets organization next season

Viggo Björck is leaving Djurgården to join the Winnipeg Jets organization for the 2026/27 season. The 18-year-old forward was selected eighth overall by the Jets in the NHL Draft this summer. Djurgården confirmed the move on its website.

Björck had a strong debut season with Djurgården's A-team, recording 15 points in 42 games. He also contributed to gold medals at the World Junior Championships and Swedish Junior Championships before representing Sweden at the World Championships, where he tallied six points in eight games.

Djurgården sports chief Marcus Due-Boje said the club respects Björck's decision despite hoping for another year with the team. Due-Boje noted that Djurgården had prepared for this possibility and now plans to add two players to maintain roster strength.

No contract has been signed yet, but the club expects one to be announced soon. The move marks the start of Björck's development within the NHL franchise beginning this fall.
