Rookies Caleb Wilson and Yaxel Lendeborg posted standout performances during the opening days of the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. Wilson scored a class-high 35 points for the Bulls while Lendeborg recorded a double-double for the Warriors.
Fifteen games took place over the first two days of the Las Vegas event. Top draft picks Darryn Peterson of the Jazz and AJ Dybantsa of the Wizards faced off, with Dybantsa scoring 27 points and Peterson finishing with 24.
Keaton Wagler, the fifth overall pick by the Clippers, managed only seven points on one-of-seven shooting in a loss to the Kings. Darius Acuff responded for Sacramento with 19 points and seven assists.
Wilson, selected fourth overall by the Bulls, made seven three-pointers in his debut against the Grizzlies. Lendeborg, the eleventh pick by the Warriors, added 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a win over the Mavericks.
Joan Beringer of the Timberwolves recorded 18 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks in a victory against the Pelicans. Nets guards Egor Demin and Mikel Brown Jr. also impressed in their team's win over the Knicks.
