Chaleco López to compete in Desafío del Desierto 2026 with Jeremías Israel

The Desafío del Desierto Rally 2026 was launched on Monday in Santiago. The edition marks the event's 25th anniversary and will feature legends of Chilean rally.

The launch took place in the main hall of Mall Sport. Pilots including Francisco Chaleco López, Jeremías Israel, Tomás de Gavardo and Ruy Barbosa were present.

Chaleco López, who competed in the first edition in 2000, will team up with Jeremías Israel on motorcycles. The competition will run from June 25 to 28 in Copiapó and surrounding areas in the Atacama Region.

The event will include four stages and more than 600 kilometers of route. Categories cover enduro motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and Big Trail bikes over 650 cc. The rally has grown from its start with 70 participants to around 200 pilots today.
