Claude Giroux has signed a new deal to remain with the Ottawa Senators. The 38-year-old forward was an unrestricted free agent before agreeing to terms, according to Sportsnet.
The signing provides continuity for Ottawa, which features a large group of Swedish players including William Eklund, Andre Burakovsky, Linus Ullmark, Samuel Ersson and Fabian Zetterlund. Daniel Alfredsson serves as assistant coach for the club.
Giroux enters his fifth season in Ottawa after joining in 2022. Last season he recorded 14 goals and 49 points in 82 games.
The veteran forward was drafted 22nd overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006 and has played 1,345 NHL games with 379 goals and 1,165 points. Ottawa recently traded captain Brady Tkachuk to the Florida Panthers and added Eklund from the San Jose Sharks along with Burakovsky from the Chicago Blackhawks.
