The family of former NHL player Claude Lemieux has decided to donate his brain to Boston University for research into the long-term effects of repeated head injuries.
Claude Lemieux, a four-time Stanley Cup champion who played in the NHL, died at age 60 in Palm Beach, Florida. Authorities classified the death, which occurred on Friday, as a suicide. His daughter Claudia Lemieux Bishop announced the donation in a press release on behalf of the family.
