The statue of Curro, mascot of Expo 92, has been torn out and stolen from Puerta de la Barqueta in Seville just one month after its placement.
The piece was installed at the site as the final touch on a full redevelopment of the public space. The project covered 5,000 square meters and involved an investment of 500,000 euros.
Investigation sources told Europa Press that authorities are currently awaiting further details on the incident.
The theft took place in Seville and officials continue their inquiries to clarify what happened.
