Former Steelers cornerback Darius Slay believes quarterback Aaron Rodgers could perform better in the upcoming season than he did last year. Slay highlighted Rodgers' mobility and arm strength during comments on ESPN's NFL Live.
Darius Slay noted that Rodgers can still move around in the pocket and make necessary throws. "He can still move around a little bit. Of course, we’re not expecting him to be running crazy around the world," Slay said. "But he can still move around, be comfortable in the pocket, and he’s still got the arm strength to make the throws he needs to make."
Rodgers recorded 3,322 passing yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions across 16 games in 2025. The Steelers re-signed the 42-year-old to return for 2026 after he helped the team secure wins.
Slay pointed to improved supporting cast elements. These include additions at wide receiver such as Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Germie Bernard, along with progress from the offensive line featuring Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick and Zach Frazier. Rodgers is also set to work again with head coach Mike McCarthy.
