Dog dies in semi-detached house fire in Jatznick

A dog has died in a fire at a semi-detached house in Jatznick. The three residents managed to escape in time, with a 51-year-old taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation. The damage is estimated at around 150,000 euros.

A fire broke out on Wednesday in a semi-detached house in Jatznick, in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district. Police reported that the blaze started in the upper floor for as yet unknown reasons. A dog could not be rescued from the building and died.

The three residents of the affected half – aged 40, 51, and 75 – left the house in time. The 51-year-old was taken to a clinic with suspected smoke inhalation, while the others remained uninjured. The 69-year-old couple from the adjacent half was also safe promptly.

Investigators estimate the property damage at about 150,000 euros. The affected semi-detached house is no longer habitable. The cause of the fire is under further investigation.
