Serhou Guirassy's goal in the 37th minute ended his 438-minute drought and was a lucky break: After a long ball from Waldemar Anton, the ball fell to him following an unfortunate header from Chrislain Matsima to teammate Han-Noah Massengo. It was Guirassy's first league goal since matchday three.
Dortmund secured their fourth consecutive competitive win and moved temporarily to second in the table. Augsburg suffered their seventh loss in nine games, remaining mired at the bottom. Coach Sandro Wagner, who made seven changes after heavy defeats to RB Leipzig (0-6) and VfL Bochum in the cup (0-1), found no relief. Dortmund altered six positions, including in defense due to illnesses of Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle.

On Guirassy: "If he doesn't score, it's talked about because he sets the bar so high. He's extremely cool and knows how good he is."
