Electricity supply issue in Bale Zone's Fereqa resolved

A long-standing electricity supply disruption in Fereqa, Bale Zone of Oromia Region, has been resolved. The Ethiopian Electric Power service introduced a new mobile substation to restore power to affected areas. This addresses repeated concerns from local residents.

According to the Ethiopian Electric Power service, a power supply disruption in Fereqa, Bale Zone, that persisted for over two years has now been resolved. Bale Robe Region Director Humed Husen stated that since Ethiopian Calendar 2016, eight woredas and their areas have been affected. These include Sinana, Goro, Dinsho, Agarfa, Gaseara, Goba, Dawe Kechene, and others.

The issue stemmed from the limited capacity of the 66 kV voltage transformer substation in Robe town. Residents of the zone repeatedly raised queries seeking resolution. To address this, an additional mobile substation equipped with a 25 MVA Ampere Transformer has been deployed.

Using this mobile substation, the supply problem has been fully resolved starting from Tena. Additionally, the capacity of the 66 kV transformer substation has been upgraded. This development should enable easier access to electricity services for Bale Zone residents.
