Epic Games Store Roadmap Promises Steam-like Features

Epic Games announced a major update plan for its PC storefront during Unreal Fest in Chicago. The roadmap includes several features modeled after established competitors.

On June 18, Epic detailed its plans for the Epic Games Store at the Unreal Fest event. The company listed immediate priorities such as third-party patch notes, party chat tools, library management improvements, cross-region gifting, and a redesigned storefront architecture.

Additional items scheduled for later include written user reviews, player profiles, discovery tools, publisher coupons, and a public release of launcher version 2. Longer-term work covers third-party communities, new API tools, universal controller support, and enhanced notifications.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney previously noted in 2021 that the store had lost over $300 million as part of a broader growth strategy. The new features aim to address long-standing gaps in the seven-year-old platform.
