Federal District to hire PJ doctors to fill shift gaps

The Federal District Health Secretary, Juracy Lacerda, announced that the department will hire doctors through the legal entity model to fill gaps in on-call shifts.

During a press conference on the afternoon of July 16, Secretary Juracy Lacerda explained the decision. Previous attempts to call professionals from the reserve list and temporary contest had failed.

Hiring via PJ aims to price services at market value to attract doctors. The model is already used in other Brazilian states.

In pediatrics and neonatology, the initiative reduced deficits and improved shifts. PJ professionals will complement teams when the number of on-call staff falls short.
