On Monday, November 3, 2025, around 12:45 p.m., security personnel from the Gabinete de Seguridad were patrolling La Brecha in Guasave, Sinaloa, when they were attacked by an armed group hidden under a bridge, as reported by Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
The immediate response from federal forces led to the deaths of 13 presumed aggressors, with four others detained. Additionally, nine people held captive by the group were rescued. Seized items included seven vehicles, long weapons, and tactical equipment, all turned over to the Attorney General's Office (FGR).
Harfuch stated on X: "Siendo aprox. 12:45 hrs, en patrullajes en La Brecha, Guasave, Sinaloa, personal operativo del @GabSeguridadMX fue agredido por un grupo armado oculto bajo un puente. La respuesta inmediata permitió lo siguiente: • 13 agresores perdieron la vida • 4 detenidos • 9 personas…".
No injuries or casualties were reported among security personnel. The area remains under guard as forensic procedures and ground and aerial reconnaissance operations continue. Sources from the Gabinete de Seguridad noted that information is still being gathered to identify the deceased and detained individuals, with investigations handled by the Federal Public Ministry.
Guasave, located in northwestern Sinaloa, borders Ahome and Sinaloa to the north, Sinaloa, Salvador Alvarado, and Angostura to the east, Angostura and the Gulf of California to the south, and the Gulf of California and Ahome to the west.
