Feijóo accuses government of altering census with grandchildren law

PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo denounced on Friday in Castellón that the government seeks to alter the electoral census through the Democratic Memory Law. He stated that this measure constitutes social engineering without innocent objectives.

Feijóo has maintained that the executive is promoting mass naturalization and has cited figures that the outlet itself notes as false, close to eight million people. He has accused the government of acting with opacity and without guarantees in the process.

PP spokesperson Borja Sémper has clarified that the party does not question the cleanliness of the electoral process. However, he has called for transparency, noting that the number of nationality applicants reaches 2.7 million.

According to data from the Ministry of Justice, since 2022 approximately half a million applications have been approved and just over 300,000 have been registered in the Civil Registry. The deadline for new applications ended in October 2025.
