Florida man charged in deaths of girlfriend, son and dog

A 34-year-old Sarasota man faces murder charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, their 6-year-old son and the family dog during a pool gathering at his mother's home. Police say the attack occurred without warning last Saturday.

Nicholas Novickis was arrested and booked on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of animal cruelty. Authorities say he used a pump-action shotgun to kill his girlfriend Allie, son Phoenix and their husky at a gated community in Sarasota's Artistry neighborhood on May 23.
