Gang recruiters in Malmö are instructing young enforcers to avoid the central station due to heightened police presence. Officials say such measures won't help, as patrols have been increased citywide. The warnings come amid a special operation following a March murder.
Police in Malmö have significantly ramped up surveillance following the murder of a 15-year-old boy on Ramels väg on March 25. The special operation Ralf targets young offenders recruited via social media.
Police spokesperson Nils Norling told Sydsvenskan: “We have a strong focus on various hubs, such as train stations and access roads.”
Authorities have now seen recruiters telling youths to get off the train one stop early and avoid Malmö C. Rasem Chebil, operational head at Malmö police, said to Sydsvenskan: “But it won't help. We have increased presence everywhere and are very active.”
On the night of April 15, a 15-year-old from Småland was arrested in Söderkulla on suspicion of preparing murder. The boy and a 30-year-old woman remain detained, according to Sydsvenskan.
