Grupo Energía de Bogotá (GEB) and Canadian investor La Caisse signed an agreement to create a joint energy transmission platform in Brazil. The deal will consolidate assets that position the new entity among the top five companies in the sector there.

The platform, to be called Verene Energía, will group 26 transmission concessions across 17 Brazilian states and more than 9,000 kilometers of lines. GEB will contribute its stakes in Argo Energia and Gebbras Participações, plus an additional investment of R$2.875 million.

Completion of the transaction is subject to approvals from Brazilian authorities such as Aneel and Cade. La Caisse will contribute its transmission assets to the new co-control structure.

GEB stated that the operation strengthens its presence in regulated energy infrastructure with stable long-term revenues and marks a key step in its international expansion.
