Government notifies Apple and Google again over bets for minors

The Ministry of Justice notified Apple and Google for the second time to clarify measures against children and adolescents accessing betting apps. The companies have five business days to respond. The practice is banned by the ECA Digital.

The notification was issued by the National Secretariats for Digital Rights and Consumer Affairs. It demands additional explanations on platform security after June monitoring identified persistent irregularities.

The first notification occurred in April. The companies responded in May after an extension. The new five-business-day deadline now applies to complementary questions.

The government stressed that app stores must proactively prevent irregular products under the ECA Digital. It questioned Apple on verification of authorization from the Secretariat for Prizes and Bets and Google on systemic failures in the Play Store.

Although the notifications are instructive, non-compliance may lead to sanction processes and joint liability for consumer damages.
