UDI president Guillermo Ramírez defended Minister Trinidad Steinert and announced that the government will unveil a roadmap with concrete measures during the public account on June 1.
Ramírez took part in a UDI council meeting and backed the government’s timeline for drafting the security plan. He explained that President José Antonio Kast will announce proposals on drug trafficking, organized crime, migration and prisons.
The party leader said the administration spent its first months conducting a detailed diagnosis of the border and prison situation. Legislative bills will be submitted to Congress starting June 2.
Socialist Party senator Paulina Vodanovic called Steinert’s remarks about lacking a structured plan “incomprehensible.” She demanded concrete actions and warned that the public account will mark a turning point for the opposition.
