Governor Lawal unveils $200 million lithium plant in Zamfara

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has commissioned a $200 million lithium mining and processing plant in Boko, Zurmi Local Government Area.

The facility, a joint venture involving Zam Mining Company Ltd, Bima Mines Ltd, Jinlide Mining Co. Ltd and other partners, aims to create at least 2,000 direct and indirect jobs with priority for qualified local residents.

Lawal described the plant as the start of a new era for responsible mining and economic diversification in the state. He said Zamfara must move beyond supplying raw minerals to participating in the full value chain through local processing and industrialisation.

The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for supporting the solid minerals sector. He also praised the investors for choosing Zamfara and pledged continued government support through infrastructure and policies that promote sustainable investment.

Residents of Boko expressed satisfaction with the project, noting it would help reduce unemployment and poverty in the community and across the state.
