On Sunday, April 5, Easter Sunday, the Mexico-Cuernavaca and Mexico-Querétaro highways saw heavy delays heading to Mexico City as Easter vacationers returned.
The Guardia Nacional and Caminos y Puentes Federales (Capufe) reported slow progress on several highways nationwide after the vacation period. On the Mexico-Cuernavaca highway, intense vehicle loads were recorded from kilometer 45 to 71 toward CDMX starting before 5 p.m., due to returning vacationers, with no accidents or blockages. The Viaducto Elevado de Tlalpan was among the most congested points.
Traffic also built up on the Cuernavaca-Acapulco highway toward Morelos from beachgoers returning.
To the north, the Mexico-Querétaro highway had an accident at kilometer 48 toward CDMX, which was cleared and traffic normalizing after 5:30 p.m. However, the Tepotzotlán toll booth saw heavy loads in both directions into the night.
