Forward Henrik Marklund will not return to DVTK Jegesmedvék after one season in Hungary. The 31-year-old is now available on the transfer market and has indicated he may end his playing career.
DVTK Jegesmedvék announced on Monday that Marklund is among several players whose contracts will not be renewed. The Skellefteå native told Norran that the decision centers on life off the ice, including plans to begin studying.
Marklund spent the season in Hungary while his pregnant partner remained in Sweden with their two children. He produced 32 points in 48 games and described the league level as comparable to a high division of Hockeyettan.
The forward previously played four seasons with Östersund in Hockeyallsvenskan, where he recorded 32 goals and 64 points during the 2021/22 promotion campaign. He also appeared in eight SHL games with Skellefteå AIK.
Östersund has already signed 14 forwards for the 2026/27 season, leaving open the question of where Marklund might continue his career if he decides to keep playing.
