James Harrison opposes Steelers signing veteran wide receiver

Former Pittsburgh Steelers player James Harrison has spoken out against the team adding an experienced wide receiver such as Stefon Diggs this offseason. Harrison argued that such a move would limit opportunities for younger players on the roster. His comments come as the Steelers prepare for training camp.

Harrison made the remarks recently on his Deebo and Joe podcast. He highlighted the current makeup of the receiving group, which includes DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr.

“We don’t really have that much of an inexperienced receiving corps, right now, we got DK [Metcalf], he has time, and we have [Michael] Pittman Jr., he has time,” Harrison said. He added that the focus should remain on developing younger talent such as Roman Wilson and rookie Germie Bernard.

Harrison stated that signing a veteran would reduce reps for players the team has already invested in. The Steelers have added to the position multiple times this offseason but remain without a new veteran wide receiver at this stage.
