KMPDU warns against graduates of disputed dentistry programme

The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union has cautioned the public against seeking dental treatment from graduates of a disputed programme at a private university. The warning follows a High Court decision on June 24, 2026, that declined to fast-track a related petition.

In a notice issued on June 27, the union stated that the programme lacked proper accreditation and inspection. It highlighted risks to patient safety and urged Kenyans to avoid unqualified practitioners.

The Milimani Law Court declined to certify the Consumers Federation of Kenya petition as urgent. The court directed that respondents, including the Commission for University Education, receive the documents and have 14 days to respond before any hearing.

KMPDU alleged the petition defended an unaccredited institution while targeting established bodies such as the University of Nairobi and Moi University. The court made no ruling on the accreditation claims.
