Stalwarts of the Lakas-CMD, the country's dominant political party, have pledged full support to President Marcos' administration amid corruption allegations in flood control projects and national budget preparation. Malacañang assured that the P6.793-trillion 2026 budget remains on track for approval. Business groups welcomed the Cabinet changes to bolster investor confidence.
In a manifesto, Lakas-CMD declared its 'full and unwavering support' for President Marcos amid corruption allegations. 'Accusations linked to alleged budget insertions and ongoing flood-control investigations must be settled through evidence, not political theater,' the party stated. Headed by former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, it boasts over 100 House members, including 109 lawmakers, 15 governors, and thousands of local officials.
Party leaders affirmed, 'We will never falter. The support of Lakas-CMD for President Marcos is solid in deed and not just in words.' They blamed 'rumor, kuwentong kutsero' for the budget and flood-control controversy, warning against turning probes into drama. 'Justice is not showbiz, truth is not scripted,' they said. The party upholds the rule of law, due process, and fidelity to truth.
Meanwhile, former Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman resigned over corruption allegations, prompting Cabinet shifts. Presidential Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro said the government's fiscal position remains positive. 'The government is assuring the people that its fiscal condition is on track and that expectations are positive in the coming months,' she stated. Economic growth will accelerate, with reduced deficit and debt, more jobs, and improved livelihoods.
The Federation of Philippine Industries praised Finance Secretary Ralph Recto's appointment as executive secretary and Frederick Go's as finance secretary. 'These transitions come at a crucial time for policy coherence, fiscal stability and investor confidence,' said Elizabeth Lee. The Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry also endorsed the picks to enhance competitiveness and create business opportunities.
