Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series has introduced a new slogan, "Build the legend," as part of a collaboration with LEGO. The phrase accompanies the first LEGO sets based on the franchise, including an "Ocarina of Time Final Battle" set. This marketing effort builds anticipation for the upcoming film set to release in 2027.
The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo's iconic fantasy video game series, is expanding to the big screen with a movie scheduled for May 7, 2027. Directed by Wes Ball, known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the film will follow Link, a young hero portrayed by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, as he battles the villainous Ganondorf to save the kingdom of Hyrule. Bo Bragason stars as Princess Zelda in this epic adventure, marking the third Nintendo adaptation after two Super Mario films.
Production began in November 2025 in New Zealand and is ongoing, with several months of filming still ahead. While only Link and Zelda have been officially cast, leaked set photos suggest Dichen Lachman, from Severance, may play Impa, the protector of the Hylian royal family. Casting for Ganondorf, the central antagonist, is expected soon.
In preparation for the movie, Nintendo has partnered with LEGO to launch the franchise's first sets. A trailer for the "Ocarina of Time Final Battle" set features the new slogan "Build the legend," tying into the brand's theme of construction. LEGO followed up with a post referencing the Triforce: "The one who can build, wisdom, courage, and power!" Though unrelated directly to the film, this collaboration aims to heighten brand awareness.
Marketing for the movie is ramping up, with fans anticipating more announcements. As 2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Zelda series, a teaser trailer could emerge later that year, though footage remains distant given the active production.
