Designer Zane Li presented his Lii Spring 2027 menswear collection from a showroom in the Marais district of Paris. The brand, less than three years old, recently won the Fashion Trust US Prize in ready-to-wear.
Li, the second designer from China to reach the semifinals of major fashion prizes, expressed pride in the achievement. The Lii label is also a finalist for the LVMH Prize on September 4 and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund on October 26.
The collection featured high-contrast black and white tones alongside soft pastels. It reworked classic items such as windbreakers and long-sleeve T-shirts with minimal changes for added interest.
Inspiration came from cultural details observed in Asia, including sweat scarves and towel hats drawn from communal bath rituals. Li noted, “They always wear something weird, but it still blends in. I’m trying to take that and make it stand out but within the restraint and strictness of my approach to dressing.”
Lighter shapes appeared in cotton jersey and crisp nylon, with shorts featuring buttoned side vents and bags modeled on Japanese children’s backpacks. The looks drew from American sportswear and earlier Raf Simons influences at Jil Sander and Prada.
