Lily Wolter announces debut solo album as My Precious Bunny

Lily Wolter, one half of Penelope Isles, has unveiled her new solo project My Precious Bunny with the debut album A Moment In My Eyes, set for release on May 22 via Bella Union. She shared the new single KookieCannibal, following the lead track I Go Up, You Go Down. The Brighton-based musician directed the video for the latest single herself.

The Isle of Man-born artist, based in Brighton, launched My Precious Bunny, a project she began at age 16 while studying Art & Design in the Isle of Man. Wolter put it on hold after forming Penelope Isles with her brother Jack in 2017. The band has released two albums: Until The Tide Creeps In in 2019 and Which Way To Happy in 2021. During lockdown, she wrote most of the songs while living at her parents' house in Penzance, Cornwall, after a breakup, describing the process as cathartic amid feelings of reflection and heartache. Wolter detailed the origins of KookieCannibal, originally called KookieLou. She jammed with producer Allister Kellaway of Last Living Cannibal in Portslade in 2022 using a Roland String synth and Logic drum samples. The lyrics, rewritten in 2024, reflect childhood gigs in the Isle of Man with optimism. Her brother Jack features on the chorus, singing 'like back in the day, will we make it rain?'. The album tracklist includes Times That Passed, Blackcurrants, Tryin’ But I’m Dyin’, Wack, The Joys Of Adulthood, Young Pup, KookieCannibal, Longacre, Punchin’, I Go Up, You Go Down, and A Moment In My Eyes.
