Lionsgate fixes Ryan Gosling hand in La La Land poster

Lionsgate has released a new poster for La La Land to mark the film's 10th anniversary. The updated design corrects the hand position that Ryan Gosling had long disliked. A re-release of the movie is scheduled for August 16.

The new poster modifies Gosling's hand from the flat pose he once described as "La La Hand." In a 2024 interview with The Wall Street Journal, Gosling recalled the original shoot with Emma Stone and explained that he chose the position despite advice against it.

"Now when I look at it, and I have to see it all the time, you know what would’ve been cooler…[the intended pose]," he said. "It just killed the energy that way. I call it La La Hand."

The musical, written and directed by Damien Chazelle, stars Gosling and Stone as a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress in Los Angeles. It also features John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock and J. K. Simmons, and won six Oscars including Best Director and Best Cinematography. The re-release will screen at Dolby Cinema at AMC Theatres.
