The Motorist Association of Kenya has demanded accountability from musician Bahati after a viral video showed him engaging in distracting behavior while driving. The clip, capturing the artist interacting intimately with his partner on the road, has sparked widespread outrage. Authorities are urged to enforce traffic laws to prevent such incidents.
A viral video of popular Kenyan musician Bahati has ignited public fury and calls for legal action, highlighting concerns over road safety. The footage, which surfaced recently, depicts Bahati driving while licking his spouse's foot and fondling her legs as she stretches across from the passenger seat. The pair appeared to be celebrating their wedding anniversary inside the moving vehicle.
The Motorist Association of Kenya (MAK) condemned the act as a 'blatant disregard for road safety' in a statement released on October 22, 2025. 'The viral video showing a musician licking his spouse’s foot while driving is a clear display of recklessness and disregard for road safety,' MAK stated. They urged the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to intervene and hold Bahati accountable under Section 49 of the Traffic Act, which penalizes driving 'without due care and attention.'
MAK emphasized that such behavior amounts to 'distracted and dangerous driving – serious offences under traffic law.' They warned, 'Failure to act sets a dangerous precedent that may embolden others to engage in life-threatening theatrics behind the wheel.' Adding, 'Driving is not a playground; it is a responsibility that demands full attention and respect for the lives of others on the road.'
Online critics have accused Bahati of staging the incident as 'ragebait' to boost social media attention. This comes amid a growing trend of public scrutiny on traffic violations by public figures. Last week, Kibra MP Peter Orero apologized after his driver was fined for a road rage incident involving driving on the wrong side and confrontation with CNN journalist Larry Madowo.
