Man's hands cut with grinder in Delhi over payment dispute

A 32-year-old tent service provider had his hands cut with a grinder in Delhi's Vijay Enclave amid a dispute over unpaid dues for wedding services. Police arrested the main accused and detained two juveniles. The victim is undergoing treatment at AIIMS.

On April 24, 2026, at around 8:30 PM, police received a call about an assault in Vijay Enclave, Dabri. Lokesh Gupta, a local halwai and tent service provider resident of the area, was found with serious injuries to his hands.

Gupta had provided tent services for the wedding of accused Ajay Pal, also known as Billa, on April 20. The total amount was ₹2.5 lakh, with ₹2 lakh still pending. When Gupta visited to collect the dues, Pal along with 2-3 associates attacked him using a grinder, attempting to cut both hands.

The victim was initially taken to Rashi Medical Centre and later referred to AIIMS for advanced treatment. Police collected evidence from the spot and recorded the victim's statement. Medical examination confirmed grievous injuries caused by a sharp weapon.

A case was registered under Sections 118(2)/127(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Dabri Police Station. Ajay Pal, aged 53, has been arrested, while two juveniles involved were detained. Further investigation is underway.
