Two men arrested after Chennai tea shop assault

Police in Chennai have arrested two men following a violent quarrel at a tea shop that left several people injured. The incident occurred on Friday night in the Secretariat Colony area.

M. Gopinath, a 30-year-old car driver from Nammalwarpet, along with his friends Venkatesan and Parthiban, visited a tea shop on Othavadai Street. An argument broke out with the owner, Arumugam, and his associate Nagaraj.

According to police, Arumugam and Nagaraj verbally abused the group and struck them with a reaper stick. Mohanraj, who tried to intervene, was also attacked before the pair fled.

Gopinath and Parthiban received treatment at Periyar Nagar Government Hospital. Following a complaint at the Secretariat Colony police station, officers arrested Nagarajan, 49, and Arumugam, 57, both from Ramalingapuram. The weapon was seized.
