Massive Attack covers Seo Taiji and Boys song on tour

Massive Attack has added a cover of the 1993 track 'Regret of the Times' by Seo Taiji and Boys to its live shows. The Bristol band calls the performance an act of continuity, revival and solidarity.

Massive Attack first played the song last week at the Veikkaus Arena in Helsinki, Finland, and has included it in every show since. The original track, released by the South Korean group, features lyrics critical of corruption and has served as an anthem at protests against government policies. In an Instagram post, the band explained that the cover honors Seo Taiji, whose work challenged state censorship. It noted that the song took on an authoritarian government and helped end pre-censorship rules for music in South Korea after public support forced the change. The group continues its tour with dates in Berlin on June 7 and Brussels on June 9. Other covers performed on the tour include tracks by Ultravox, Gigi D’Agostino and Tim Buckley.
