May tax collection estimated at 35.8 trillion pesos

Bancolombia's Economic Research Directorate estimated that tax collection in May reached 35.8 trillion pesos, a 9.6% increase from the same month in 2025.

According to the Pulso Tributario report published on June 5, the result was driven mainly by increases in domestic VAT collection, the tax on financial transactions and income tax. Cumulative collection from January to May would reach 136.2 trillion pesos, representing a 7.2% rise compared with the same period last year. Through May, 42.9% of the government's annual target of 317.5 trillion pesos would have been met, leaving a shortfall of 2.8 trillion. On budget execution, commitments canceled in May totaled 44.9 trillion pesos, up 16.5% from 2025.
