Twitch streamer Ryan Letourneau, known as Northernlion, has canceled his planned Supercruise event just three days after announcing it. The five-day Royal Caribbean cruise from Tampa, Florida, was set to feature fellow streamers but raised safety worries. Northernlion cited personal anxiety and broader concerns as reasons for the cancellation.
Ryan “Northernlion” Letourneau announced the Northernlion Supercruise on April 13, 2026, only to cancel it on April 16. The event was to be a five-day trip on a Royal Caribbean ship departing from Tampa, Florida, with stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico. Northernlion was to headline, joined by streamers Dan Gheesling, Squeex, and LovelyMomo. Refunds will be issued to those who booked rooms in the coming days. Northernlion expressed nervousness during recent streams about the event. “I think this has illuminated for me that I actually do have an anxiety disorder,” he said, adding he felt drained in a negative way. Initially focused on making it fun, his concerns shifted to safety for streamers and attendees. “We only wanted to do it if we felt like everyone was comfortable, and I was getting more and more uncomfortable with the idea,” Northernlion stated. Fans had mixed reactions, with some questioning if the announcement was a joke and others raising health and safety issues, as well as ethical concerns about the travel agency Corporate Travel's promotions. Planned activities, including a streamer Q&A and speedrunning contest, will now be livestreamed remotely, as Northernlion tweeted about the 'Northernlion Kills Librarian' event.
