Oregon woman sentenced to life for murdering ex-husband

Reina Gabriela Jackson, 45, received a life sentence with parole eligibility after 25 years for the second-degree murder of her ex-husband, Dr. Craig Jackson. The killing occurred during a home invasion in North Bend, Oregon, in August 2021. Prosecutors described the act as driven by jealousy over his remarriage.

A jury convicted Reina Gabriela Jackson of second-degree murder following a three-week trial last month. On Monday, Coos County Circuit Court Judge Martin E. Stone imposed the life sentence, as announced by the Oregon Department of Justice. Jackson showed little emotion upon learning of her ex-husband's death, according to prosecutors. The Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield stated, “Dr. Craig Jackson served his country, built a career dedicated to caring for people, and was building a new life for himself and his daughter. What happened to him was brutal and calculated. His family deserved justice, and the sentence reflects the gravity of what was done.”
