Kouri Richins sentenced to life without parole

Utah mother Kouri Richins received a life sentence without parole on Wednesday for murdering her husband with a fentanyl-laced drink in 2022. The sentencing came on what would have been Eric Richins' 44th birthday.

A Utah district court judge handed down the sentence after Richins' March conviction on charges including aggravated murder, attempted murder, insurance fraud and forgery. Prosecutors said she served her husband a Moscow Mule cocktail containing nearly five times a lethal dose of fentanyl at their home near Park City. The judge described her as too dangerous to ever be free and noted the motive as financial gain from insurance policies and a real estate deal.
