Pacto Histórico projects growth in Cali's council for 2027

Pacto Histórico expects to increase its representation in Cali's council from three to five or six seats in the 2027 local elections, based on projections from its recent electoral gains.

In 2023 Pacto Histórico secured more than 83,000 votes in Cali, tripling the left's 2019 results and winning three seats held by María del Carmen Londoño, Luis Fernando Salazar and Sergio Mauricio Zamora.

Growth accelerated in legislative elections. The coalition rose from 215,000 votes in Cali in 2022 to 320,000 in 2026, a 49 percent increase.

Council member Luis Fernando Salazar set an ambitious target: “Vamos a duplicar esas curules, o sea vamos a pasar de tres a seis curules en el Concejo”. More conservative projections show the list could exceed 120,000 votes and gain five seats.

The outcome will also hinge on presidential elections and opposition to Mayor Alejandro Eder, whose administration shows high disapproval ratings. Nine Pacto Histórico congress members from Valle del Cauca will take office on July 20.
