PDI Subcommissioner Barricades in Las Condes Building and Denounces Corruption

Subcommissioner Rodrigo Silva barricaded himself Tuesday in a Las Condes building, shouted corruption allegations and was hospitalized after surrendering. The Fiscalía de Alta Complejidad Oriente is investigating his claims of official crimes.

Subcommissioner Rodrigo Silva, of the Brigada Investigadora de Robos e Intervención Criminalística de Vitacura, broke a window on the seventh floor of an office building in Las Condes Tuesday night. He shouted that colleagues were pursuing him, that he had been forced to commit crimes and that they sought to kill him to stage a confrontation.

Silva remained in the building for three hours until Carabineros negotiators and health teams persuaded him to surrender. He was taken to a medical facility under police protection.

On Thursday he escaped the protection detail, was contained and returned to hospital. The Fiscalía de Alta Complejidad Oriente is conducting inquiries into his report of corruption acts and official crimes. Chief prosecutor Felipe Sepúlveda stated that serious facts are under investigation and that Silva is acting as complainant, with no charges against prosecutors so far.
