Peaer announces first album since 2019 and shares new song Button

The New York-based slowcore trio Peaer has revealed details of their upcoming album Doppelgänger, their first full-length release in nearly seven years. Set for release on January 16 via Danger Collective, the album is led by the single 'Button.' The band, led by Peter Katz, draws from songs spanning their career, including material dating back to 2015.

Album Details

Peaer's fourth LP, Doppelgänger, follows their 2019 album A Healthy Earth. The new record collects tracks from the band's entire career, with some ideas originating as early as 2015. It also features 'Just Because,' a song released last year. The album's tracklist includes: 01 End of the World, 02 Part of the Problem, 03 Just Because, 04 No More Today, 05 Rose in My Teeth, 06 Button, 07 I.D.W.B.W.Y., 08 Bad News, 09 Future Me.

New Single 'Button'

The lead single 'Button' was written by Katz after he started a full-time office job in 2023, which prompted reflections on identity and life's small moments. Katz explained, 'It grew into a song about small moments and their impact on the course of your life. There are lots of questions in the lyrics, a lot dealing with the idea of: You wanted this, didn’t you? What do you do now that you have it? Is it what you expected? There is also a moment of humility towards the end, with the acknowledgement that even if we don’t necessarily want to “work” there is a power in being a part of something larger than yourself.'

Band Background

Formed in 2014 by bandleader Peter Katz, Peaer is a New York slowcore trio. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic derailing their 2020 tour plans, the band continued developing new music over the years.
