The Polish Tennis Association has rejected claims of widespread ticket returns ahead of Poland's Billie Jean King Cup qualifier against Ukraine in Gliwice on April 10-11. Coach and analyst Lech Sidor suggested fans were abandoning the event due to Iga Swiatek's absence. The association insists only one return request was made last week.
Poland's Billie Jean King Cup team faces Ukraine without six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek, who was ruled out last Saturday. The tie in Gliwice was anticipated to spark national pride, but Swiatek's withdrawal has drawn scrutiny over fan interest at PreZero Arena. A canceled concert there had already complicated preparations, according to Sidor's comments on the Trzeci Serwis YouTube channel. He expressed regret for fans, stating, “From what I understand, people are returning their tickets en masse, trying to sell them elsewhere, or will simply throw them away.”
