Arash Pournouri is appealing the district court ruling in his case against Levan Tsikurishvili and wants the documentary Avicii: True Stories included in the review.
Arash Pournouri has switched lawyers and is appealing Stockholm District Court’s acquittal of filmmaker Levan Tsikurishvili. The new representatives Carl Adam Åhnberg and Patrik Hansson at Rydin Advokater AB want Svea Court of Appeal to include the documentary Avicii: True Stories as evidence.
Åhnberg states that the district court overlooked the necessary context around an Instagram post by Tsikurishvili. The post, which said it could have been 1000 percent worse if certain side tracks had been explored, was interpreted by Pournouri as implying further damaging information.
The district court found it impossible to determine what was meant and ordered Pournouri to pay the other party’s legal costs. The appeal stresses that the post’s recipients, over 21 000 followers, already held an image of Pournouri shaped by the documentary and subsequent debate.
