Prime Video has canceled the planned Rainbow Six spin-off series starring Michael Peña. The actor, who played Domingo Ding Chavez in Jack Ryan, cited rights issues as the likely reason. The decision leaves the future of the Tom Clancy franchise uncertain.
Michael Peña portrayed skilled CIA agent Domingo Ding Chavez in the fourth and final season of Jack Ryan in 2023. Reports of a spin-off series focused on his character emerged in 2022, but the project was shelved by early 2026.
In an interview, Peña speculated that Prime Video struggled to secure the necessary rights for the character. He noted that interest in the spin-off may have created additional complications. Peña also referenced the 2021 film Without Remorse as a possible factor in the streamer's decision.
Prime Video released the film Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War at the end of May. Director Andrew Bernstein expressed hope that Amazon Studios will approve further projects in the franchise.
The movie has received mixed reviews, holding a 42 percent critic rating and 36 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
