Prophet Owuor denies CS Duale's overseas knee surgery claims

Controversial Kenyan prophet David Owuor has refuted Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale's assertion that he traveled abroad for knee surgery. Owuor stated that his recent trip to Europe was for an official ministry mission. The denial comes amid ongoing scrutiny over his healing claims.

Controversial prophet David Owuor issued a strongly worded statement on his social media pages on Thursday, January 29, 2026, refuting claims by Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. Duale had spoken the previous night, Wednesday, during a Citizen TV interview, alleging Owuor was abroad for knee surgery while questioning his ability to perform healing miracles.

"The ministry of repentance and holiness strongly refutes recent public remarks attributed to CS Aden Duale regarding Prophet Dr. David Owuor. The statements suggesting that the prophet of the Lord underwent medical procedures as alleged are false, unverified and misleading," Owuor stated.

Owuor clarified that at the referenced time, he was on an official international mission in Europe, conducting revival meetings and ministry work centered on messages of repentance, holiness, and preparations for the Messiah's coming. He has since returned to the country, the statement added.

Owuor expressed concerns about the spread of inaccurate claims presented as facts and urged the public, leaders, commentators, and media to exercise responsibility and accuracy in discussing faith and spiritual leadership matters. He called for fairness, factual reporting, and respect for his ministry.

"Our ministry gatherings are centered on prayer, repentance, and faith in Jesus Christ. Attendees often share personal testimonies of spiritual restoration and healings through the Blood of Jesus Christ. These are matters of faith and religious belief and should be treated with the respect afforded to all faith-based expressions," the statement said.

The controversy reignited in December 2025 after Owuor claimed to heal patients with diseases including HIV and AIDS, parading doctors who confirmed negative test results. The government initiated investigations, with Duale demanding the revocation of the doctors' licenses.

"If he (Owuor) can go for knee replacement, I do not know why he should ask his followers to go for spiritual nourishment. This is what happened with Shakahola. We must be very careful," Duale stated. He emphasized that professionals must scientifically prove their claims, or face serious disciplinary actions like suspension or license revocation for misconduct and ethics violations.
