Prosecutors investigate suspected embezzlement of 230 million euros at VZB

The Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office is advancing investigations against former officials of the Berlin Dentists' Pension Fund.

In mid-June, investigators obtained a court order from a judge at the Tiergarten District Court. This allows them to search numerous email mailboxes of the pension fund.

Prosecutors suspect 18 people. They are alleged to have embezzled a total of more than 230 million euros. This is evident from the search warrant viewed by Handelsblatt.

The accused include former members of the administrative and supervisory committees as well as employees of the VZB. They are said to have approved investments or failed to examine them sufficiently.
