Municipal company Hemab warns around one thousand households in northern Härnösand not to drink tap water after a break-in at a water facility. Police are investigating suspected vandalism.

Residents in areas including Högsjö, Utansjö, Hälledal, Veda and Ramvik are urged not to use tap water for food or drink until further notice. The water can however be used for showers, laundry and toilets.

Fredrik Olsson at Hemab says there are no indications that anything has been done to the water but the recommendation is a precaution. Samples have been sent to a laboratory and results are expected on Thursday morning.

Police attended the scene after an alarm on Wednesday morning and are investigating the incident as vandalism. Water trucks have been placed at Utansjögården, Högsjögården and at Tempo in Hälledal for those needing drinking water.
